Cricket’s Story
Cricket, a beautiful Dutch Shepherd mix, is a 3-year-old delight! She has been in the shelter since September 21, 2021. Cricket is energetic, easily engaged, and very interested in learning. She came to us having had very little human love. She and her dog brother were left to run around outside without attention. The thing about it is Cricket loves people and wants to please. So ignoring her and giving her no leadership makes her restless and unhappy. She loves her belly rubbed, and she LOVES a good treat. One of our volunteers has been working with her, and within a few sessions, she learned sit, down, wait, leave it, and drop it. She is a very smart girl indeed! And when she follows commands, she is VERY proud of herself. Then she wants more belly rubs. It’s as if she is saying, “see, I can do this.” She passed her obedience class with trainer Sharon Callan with flying colors and continues her training with one of our volunteers.
She would best be with a family or person who wants to work with her and continue to teach her skills. She will make a great hiking companion or running companion if you are willing to take the time with her. We love this girl a lot and want for her a happy home. The shelter is NO place for a working girl like her. She is bored and stir crazy. She wants to work, and she wants to please. She is good with all people, children and adults.
