Hooch is a former GCAS resident who has had such a hard journey, but is a total love bug who adores people and is eager to please. This 4-year-old, 72 pound sweetheart is house trained and already knows “sit,” (lay) “down,” and “shake.” He is the only dog we know who somehow grips your hand when he shakes. Hooch gets along well with other dogs and rides beautifully in the car (one of his very favorite activities!)

He is an active guy who loves chew sticks and lick mats. He thrives in the company of humans and just wants to be included. He is known at the shelter for giving the best doggy kisses, and he loves to snuggle. He truly is a people-loving dog! 

Because of how much Hooch loves being with people, he really struggles in the contained shelter environment. Please consider giving this sweet guy a home so that he can live the life he deserves!! He really is a wonderful boy who just wants to love and be loved.

Joe is a neutered, vaccinated 39 pound, approximately 2 year old lovable, affectionate, Treeing Walker Coonhound/Mountain Cur/Rat Terrier mix!

We love Joe, but Joe has some quirks and he needs an owner who will take the time to understand him and respect his body language.

Joe is joyful, has big soulful brown eyes which he will fix on you while he wags his tail. He cuddles, he’s playful, and loves to go on walks. He’s happy to lay in the sun and chew on his stuffies. 

Joe would like to live somewhere where he can run around a while, and then lie around and chill out. He loves the kiddie pool, gnawing on stuffies, and would adore having a wild critter to chase now and then. (We don’t think he’d catch one). No cats for Joe, though.

Please, someone come get this guy. We think, if he were in a quieter place, he wouldn’t be so amped up and would be a fine companion. He will thrive in a home with a fenced yard. He's a hound after all!

Mary Catherine Gallagher is indeed a Superstar!

This girl is an approximately 3.5 year old, 52 pound ball of energy. She has the athleticism to be a great hiking companion and would thrive in a household with a fenced yard for her to zoom around in.

Mary Catherine loves people, and loves playing and cuddling with our volunteers. Hanging out in the shed is one of her favorite things. She especially likes puzzles and is very good at them!

Fitz is an estimated 4.5 year old, 74 mixed breed male who is vaccinated, neutered, and his bags are packed.

Fitz spreads sunshine with his happy demeanor and sweet smile. He gently requests hugs and is a real love whose signature move is flopping down on his back and wiggling around. Fitz is gentle when meetings kids, and is a pretty chill dude who is house trained, crate trained, and ready to settle in at his forever home.

Fitz has just finished HW treatment, and is back at the shelter, ready to go home!

This is what his foster mom learned about what he likes:
1) He loves to be outside, not necessary to play but to listen and observe. Sniffing when on his walk is super important, more than the distance.
2) He loves collagen sticks for chewing. I use Red Barn.
3) He’s grown to look for his crate lick mat. I use plain Greek nonfat yogurt and plain peanut butter. He devours it.
4) He loves people. He would be content just sitting near me getting pets, brushed and belly rubs.

Darling Dollie!

Dollie is an approximately 12 month old, 32 pound mixed breed sweetheart.

Dollie is on the chiller side, as puppies go, and is a little shy at times. She just needs someone to be willing to sit with her so she can relax, and then she'll be your pal. Dollie loves her time in the play yard, and does great with pretty much every dog she meets - big or small. Dollie will take all of the loving you want to give her! She is vaccinated and spayed and ready to start her happily ever after.

Haven is a 1 yr old, vaccinated, spayed, 42 pound mixed breed female.

She is sweet and very shy, as she came in from a neglect situation with her brother, Knox, where they had almost no contact with humans.

She is most comfortable in the company of other dogs. She is timid with people and needs a family that understands this and can be patient while she settles in and gains confidence.

Given her history, Haven would thrive adopted into a home with a fenced yard at least one other dog, as this is where she really shines.

Gentle Yoshi is a sweet and shy approximately 1.5 year old, 53 pound mixed breed male. He is vaccinated, neutered and his bags are packed!

Like many of our shy dogs, he truly comes alive in the company of other dogs. Yoshi loves play group! He is getting the hang of leash walking, and is always up for a cuddle with staff and volunteers. While Yoshi might look like a tough guy with his beefy build, he's the sweetest boy and he makes the cutest grunts when he kicks his legs. We love him!

Pauley is an approximately 4 year old, 56 pound American bulldog mix who is a volunteer favorite due to his charming personality. He loves people!

Pauley is sweet and affectionate. He loves chew toys and playing tug of war with a rope. The best part of his day is romping in the play yard with one of his girlfriends. Hey y'all, I'm Davey! I was found wandering around with my head stuck in a plastic jar. Some nice people set me free, and after hanging out with a very nice foster family, I am back at the shelter. I miss being in a home.

I am estimated to be 2 years old, and currently weigh around 65 pounds. My foster mom says I'm a big old hunk of love!

I am: Neutered, Up to date on shots, Crate trained, Good with other dogs, House trained, Totally handsome, Working on my leash walking skills. Cats are NOT my thing. I am a curious boy so fences need to be at least 5 ft high for me!

Davey is improving his ability to be the perfect companion by taking a five week basic obedience class. He recently spent the weekend in his former foster home and is the perfect house guest! He's just a big old couch potato.

Sarah has shown herself to be one of our play group rock stars who gets along with pretty much every dog she meets. She’s the best.

Kevin! This handsome approximately 1.5 year old, 53 pound Border Collie mix brings the party with him.

Kevin’s fun-loving personality and good looks have made him a volunteer favorite with a devoted fan club at the shelter.

Mama T! Tashina came into the shelter from a neglect situation with four puppies in tow. Thankfully, one of our amazing fosters opened their home to this sweet mama and she and her puppies are now in great shape and ready for adoption!

This gentle and friendly little guy came in with his friend Dottie, since adopted. He is one of our play group rock stars, and he loves running around with his buddies. Vinny also loves people, and is a very good boy.

Say hello to Kora, an estimated 5 year old, 73 pound lovable Velcro dog who’s never met a stranger! Kora is the ultimate snugler — she’s happiest curled up next to her humans, soaking up all the love she can get.

Kora is dog-friendly and enjoys having canine pals to hang out with, but she’s a firm no when it comes to cats or kittens. She has a playful spirit and absolutely LOVES her toys — especially the squeaky ones! She's house trained and uses a doggie door like a pro. Kora is also working hard on her manners, especially her tendency to counter surf (what can she say, she’s curious!).

After being a loving mama to six adorable puppies, Kora is ready for some me time in her forever home. She’s a bit of an explorer, so she’ll do best in a home with a higher fence to keep her safe.
