Belladonna, affectionately known as Bella, is a resilient and loving pup who found herself back at the shelter after her family could no longer provide the care she deserves and she’s eager to find her forever home.

Whether it’s a stroll in the park, a mountain hike, running errands, or a cozy movie night, Bella is always up for an adventure. This clever girl loves to show off her smarts! She can shake hands, sit, lay down, come when called, and even clean up crumbs.

Bella gets along wonderfully with people of all ages. She perfect for those who work from home, as Bella rarely barks and enjoys a peaceful environment.

Bella’s favorite pastime? Playing with toys! Bella is not suited for a home with cats, and is happy to be the only dog in a home.

Introducing Penny! This sweet Coonhound mix
 is approximately 3 years old, weighs 65 pounds, and is spayed and fully vaccinated.

Penny thrives on love and cuddles. She’ll melt your heart with her sweet, soulful eyes. Her favorite pastime? Belly rubs! She’ll happily roll over for some extra attention. She gets along with most dogs in play group and enjoys a good romp.

At just over 1 year old, this sweet little girl is a pistol!

Guin plays well with most dogs - the big dogs as well as the young dogs her own size. She walks on a leash like a champ and she is a great little hiking buddy.

She absolutely LOVES the kiddie pool in the play yard. It's so fun to watch her play.

Fully grown at 50 pounds, she is the perfect size and personality for anyone who loves a playful, medium-sized dog. Miss Guinevere is spayed, vaccinated and ready to go! No cats for this good girl, mainly because she's afraid of them.

Darling Ora is a 2 year old, vaccinated 46 lb sweetheart.

She is sweet and shy, plays very well with other dogs and is most comfortable in the company of other dogs. She is needs a family that can be patient while she settles in. Ora is doing great with her leash walking.

Given her history, Ora would do best be adopted into a home with a fenced yard at least one other dog.

Preacher is a neutered, vaccinated 62 pound approximately 2.5 year old boxer mix.

Preacher is a special dog looking for a very special person. He is incredibly lovable and adored by shelter staff and volunteers

Preacher loves people and wants to greet everyone who walks by, tail wagging. His happy demeanor is guaranteed to make you smile. He loves to walk and does well on a leash.

Preacher knows sit and he can “drop it” when playing fetch. He loves to ride in the car and he also loves to just sit in the parking lot with staff or volunteers and watch cars go by.

Preacher will thrive in a household he is the only animal and has a fenced yard in which to run and chase ball, his absolute favorite pass time. He is happy, loves to play, and will flourish with an experienced owner who can give him structure.

Meet Dougie, an approximately 7.5 year old mixed breed boy who weighs 75 pounds, is neutered, fully vaccinated, and HW-, thanks to treatment received in a foster home.

Dougie is housebroken and walks well on a leash. No cats for Dougie, though.

Zeke is an approximately 4 year old, 78 pound funny, clownish kind of guy. He seems to be a Boxer mix, and he plays well with most other dogs and is easy to walk on a leash.

He is medium-energy, and although he can whoop it up in the play yards, he can often be found chilling out on his bed in his kennel. He would do great in a home where walks were daily, but so was couch time. This guy is really a sweetheart and a volunteer favorite.

Joe is a neutered, vaccinated 39 pound, approximately 1.5 year old lovable, affectionate, Beagle/Hound mix!

He loves to play, sniff, hike, and just have fun! Joe loves puppies and is teaching our puppies how to play. It's the best! He also does great romping with many of the dogs at the shelter. Afternoon Enrichment is his favorite, where he gets to jump in the pool, solve puzzle games, and cuddle with our volunteers.

Joe deserves a loving family and will make someone a wonderful companion. He will do best in a home with a fenced yard. He's a hound!

Sweet Bobo is an approximately 6 year old mixed breed boy who weighs 52 pounds. He is vaccinated and neutered.

Bobo is a gentle middle-aged guy who loves his walks and cuddles with our volunteers. He walks well on a leash.

He recently had an outing to the Ellijay Arts Festival, and was friendly, sociable and great on a leash . He was calm and gentle, and loved everyone he met.

Stewie is an estimated 13 year old Mountain Cur mix weighing 32 pounds.

Shelter life is tough on older dogs, and we are hoping this sweet and gentle senior finds a loving home to land in so he can spend his golden years in comfort. He is friendly and walks well on a leash for our volunteers.

"I love car rides in the neighborhood, sticking my head out the window & feeling the breeze on my face!

Don’t be fooled by my age! I’m no coach potato, actually more like an energizer bunny. Walking, exploring & sniffing is my jam!

I love pets & snuggles so much that sometimes I’ll let out a little moan…but please only for a minute or two at a time, so that we can get right back to exploring some more! If you have a hike planned & need a companion, I’m your man! You know where to find me."

Meet Ellie Jay, the sweetest, playful, and snuggly girl!! 

Ellie Jay (aka Ellie) is the cutest 5-month-old cur/shepherd mix, currently weighing in at 44lbs!

This sweet girl loves people/kids/dogs, and while she is super curious about cats, she's learning how to let the cats love her!  She loves to go on long walks/hikes, chew toys/bones, play with the older dogs, lay outside in the sunshine on her pet bed, and get belly rubs.

She is very smart: working on level 1 puzzles, can sit for you, can come when we make our calling sound, is working on leash manners (still likes to pull towards other dogs/humans on a walk), and is almost fully house-trained. She would probably do best with other dogs or a person who spends plenty of time at home to help her progress with the crate and house training. She sleeps in the bed with you all night and is the BEST cuddler.

She has age-appropriate puppy zoomies, energy, and curiosity but once she gets her walks, smells, and attention time, she will sleep at your feet for hours.

Miss Fern is a sweet, soulful approximately 2.5 year old American English Coonhound. She weighs 59 pounds, and is vaccinated and spayed.
